YQTV

Youth Ministries has announced a new facet of the Youth Quest experience. YQTV is a news program that will run from April to Youth Quest (July 19-22nd) on the YQ homepage and the YQ Facebook. Each episode of YQTV will be centered on an event happening at Youth Quest. Interviews with speakers, local youth pastors, and the Youth Quest praise band are just a few. The first episode features a tutorial on how to become tax exempt for your hotel in Florida, which can save many youth groups thousands of dollars at Youth Quest! Watch the video below for an interview with the International Youth Director Pastor Charles Boyd! Click here to watch all YQTV episodes.

YOU can be a part of YQTV! Email dmdinfo@iphc.org your ideas for interviews, things you'd like to see on YQTV, or just to say hi! We'd love to hear from you!

Accelerant Celebrates 15 Years of Ministry

Hey guys! If you didn't get a chance to check out the article about Accelerant, here it is!
Article written by Megan Alba. Click here to view the original document.

Accelerant, the IPHC's premier winter youth retreat, has been igniting a fire in students for 15 years. This year was no different. With almost spring-like weather outside, the atmosphere inside the Gatlinburg Convention Center was that of young people who were on fire for Christ. More than 2200 teens and youth leaders attended the 15th annual Accelerant, January 26 - 29 in Gatlinburg, TN.
In recent years, the event has been marked by vibrant, Pentecostal services that included extended altar ministry, teens slain in the spirit, and hundreds of youth experiencing the filling of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues. This year's event, while outwardly more subdued, was deeply passionate. The spiritual fervor was palpable as teens spent much of their time around the altar in prayer for themselves, their peers, and their schools and communities.
Bishop Greg Amos says the transition was intentional - not to "quench the Spirit," but to create an event that would lead to lasting change in teens' lives.

"Accelerant 2012 has been an event of great significance and depth. The messages and worship created a ripe atmosphere for transformation," Amos told Experience. "I received a text from a parent who could already tell a difference in her son. That's why Accelerant exists. We want to be a catalyst that ignites and sustains a fire."
Speakers Tavner Smith (Redemption World Outreach Center) and Mike Haman (Healing Place Church) shared hard-hitting sermons that challenged youth to fight the spirit of complacency and compromise that plagues their generation. In the opening service, Tavner Smith spoke candidly about the importance of taking a stand for Christ.

"There's a room full of lions sitting in here tonight," he said, "and you're curled up on the lap of society instead of being the kings you've been called to be." Smith went on to challenge teens to live up to the potential God has placed within them , and to be the world changers God has called their generation to be.
Other guests included rap artist J. Prophet and worship band Chasen. Teens also enjoyed a worship concert with The Afters and Grammy-nominated Leeland.

A spirit of prayer and devotion continued in the Saturday morning Youth Workers Breakfast, where Tavner Smith shared a word of knowledge for youth leaders. Following his prophetic word, IPHC executive leadership praying over nearly every leader in the room.

Even vendors noted the change in teens' attitudes and actions. "You guys are doing an awesome thing," said one vendor. "I do a lot of different denominational youth conferences, and there's such a stark difference between this one and others." He went on to explain.

The event also raised more than $5,000 for the annual Global Quest offering, which provides support for Metro Ministries, Free Camp, and Hope4Sudan.

Praise reports were already coming in before the event ended, and Amos expects many more in the coming weeks. Students and youth leaders can share their testimonies by posting on the Accelerant Facebook page, or by emailing GAmos91380@aol.com.

Altitude: An Awakening Experience

Hey guys! Did you miss Altitude this year? Here's what happened!

Contrary to the past, Altitude was held in the Oklahoma City area this year. Yes, I know the name “Altitude” is not too characteristic of Oklahoma City—especially compared to Winter Park, Colorado, where the conference was held its first two years. However, from a spiritual standpoint, it is fair to say that the conference climbed to an even higher elevation.

Packed with powerful spirit-led speakers, anointed worship experiences, and activities ranging from rock climbing to snow tubing, these IPHC youth had a blast. I know that the experiences and commitments made during the conference will positively impact these kids throughout 2012

The last night of the conference, held on New Year’s Eve, the directors hosted a special service that was a talent show of sorts. Talents included prayers, skits, testimonies, hip-hop dancing, musical performances, and everything in between. The greatest part of all was that each performance was centered on bringing glory to the King.

As midnight approached, we worshiped the Lord, and what an amazing way to spend the first moments of the new year! As the countdown began, everyone in the building began praying, thanking Him for the ability to be salt and light to the world during 2012—definitely an Awakening experience, and a night to remember.

Altitude was a complete success! The Awakening interns and I were able to excite many of the attendees about missions. The Awakening specifically promoted the Panama trip scheduled for August 5-11, 2012. Many inquirers loved hearing stories from previous mission trips, and they became ecstatic to create their own! There is no doubt that God planted seeds in the hearts of many of those young adults. After all, as a member of The Awakening, I feel a specific duty to help “awaken” the call of “go and tell” to all people; whether it is overseas or around the corner.

We're so excited to start off this new part of Youth Ministries at the IPHC.

WHO WE ARE:

Army of the Awakened is a ministry group developed by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church to unite teens across the nation in one purpose: to win our world for Christ.

Regardless of denomination, race, language, nationality or sex, we all have one thing in common: a loving Creator who wants a personal relationship with each and every one of us!

Here you will read true stories from people around the world; you will have the chance to discover new resources or inspiration to help you in your Christian walk; and you will meet teens just like yourself, who are striving to live their life for Christ.

Whether you have been a Christian you're whole life, or you just became a Christian recently, or you're somwhere in between, we want to welcome you to join the AOA!
